Details

To encourage you to visualize ASL, this compilation of vocabulary appears alongside practical illustrations instead of English words. The only exception is the word "Deaf" which we recognize as the preferred term among members of the community whose primary mode of communication is American Sign Language.

Because ASL is a visual language, this dynamic CD helps build your vocabulary by showing you the actual movement for 450 signs. There are 21 categories including Animals, Numbers, Sports, and many more. You can practice as much as you want, then take a quiz and print your scores.

There are many vocabulary items that have more than one sign just as English has different words for the same concept (for example: couch, sofa, davenport). ASL is a living language with regional variations. In this volume of basic vocabulary, we show only one sign to avoid confusing beginners.

*This CD contains no audio.

PC System Requirements: The CDs run on Windows® XP, Windows Vista® and Macintosh OS X operating systems; your computer must have a CD drive and at least 128MB of RAM.
