Signalers/Notification Systems

    • The product Graco Secure Coverage Digital Baby Monitor has been added to comparison list.

Signaling systems alert you to sounds and events in one or more rooms with an audible sound, light and/or bed shaker. Interconnected systems, like baby monitors, have a base receiver with indicators that let you know what event occurred (baby crying, doorbell, phone, etc). Standalone units signal at the point of sound, such as a door knocker that hooks onto the door and flashes when someone knocks on the door.

To start

  • I do not have a signaling system
Select the type of sound you want to be notified about or select a manufacturer name to see more about their system.
  • I want to add to an existing signaling system
Find the manufacturer name for compatible products. It is recommended that you do not mix system units from different manufacturers. Some manufacturers have standalone units that alert for just one sound source in one room.
When using a lamp that plugs into a signaler or transmitter, there are several light bulb options to choose from.
  • Instant-on CFL (compact fluorescent light): The key here is the instant-on feature, available at Lowes and Home Depot, as well as other hardware stores and online. They last about 10 times longer than incandescent bulbs, ending up costing about 50% less than the incandescent type and using a lot less energy, saving even more. A 13-23 watt instant-on CFL compares to a 60-100 watt incandescent light bulb.
  • Halogen: Halogen bulbs also work well. They provide a warmer light than CFLs, however can cost up to 2 times more than instant-on CFLs. The good news is as incandescent bulbs are phased out, the halogen bulb will begin to drop in price.
  • LED: LEDs work well, cost averaging about $18 per bulb or more.
  • Incandescent: Stock up on these while still available. The average incandescent bulb can last up to 5 years or longer when used with our signaling products.
